Introduction
The National Theater of Korea was opened in 1950 as the first national theater in Asia. The theater is the base of operations for four performance groups: the National Drama Company, the National Changgeuk Company, the National Dance Company, and the National Orchestra Company. By supporting these performance troupes, the National Theater strives to globalize Korean traditional arts, modifying select pieces to reach a larger audience.

Main Facilities
Haeoreum Theater
As the representative performance hall of Korea, the main hall of the National Theater of Korea is an integrated theater capable of staging every genre of performance. The main hall has 1,563 seats (including special seats for the disabled) and an easily adjustable stage along with advanced sound and lighting systems. In particular, the spacing between seats is among the largest in Korea, providing the audience with comfortable environment in which to enjoy the performance.
Daloreum Theater
This small hall with 512 seats (including 6 wheelchair seats) boasts a proscenium stage with ideal facilities.
It is a popular theater for staging representative works from the repertoire and regularly scheduled programs of various genres. It is also the main theater for dramas and Changgeuk.
Byeoloreum Theater
This studio of the National Theater of Korea was established in 2001 as a youthful space often used to feature more progressive and experimental performances. It is a small theater with a 100-person seating capacity including 74 fixed seats and some 30 moveable seats. It consists of a 220 square meter area including a 33 square meter lobby, and comes with sound, lighting, and cooling and heating facilities.
It also has performing arts museum on floors 2 and 3.
KB Haneul Youth Theater
KB Haneul Youth Theater has capacity of seats 732 is the very first domed theater for the youth in Korea. Its automatically convertible roof makes it possible either to have natural or artificial lighting suitable for each performance, regardless of weather. It stands for an environment-friendly, multipurpose theater with a design to fit Namsan Mountain's nature, excellent acoustics and good sound and lighting equipments.
