Introduction

Kim Koo Museum & Library was built in Yongsan-gu, Seoul to commemorate Baekbeom Kim Koo who was a well-known independent activist. Baekbeom Kimkoo Assassination Truth Commission suggested the idea to build the memorial hall in 1996. The Association of Commemorative Service for Patriot Kim Koo was established in 1998, and they started funding for building Baekbeom Memorial Hall. A groundbreaking ceremony was held on June 26, 2000 and it opened on October 22, 2002. In December, 2008, its name was changed from Baekbeom Memorial Hall to Baekbeom Kim Koo Memorial Hall. The hall is comprised of two floors, exhibiting relics related to his entire life sequence. A statue of a seated Kim Koo is situated in the central space of the first hall.
